Experience

Previous tutoring experience in assisting youngest sister with high school and college subject matter. For a field experience in K-12 Special Education, I provided educational assistance to students in a grade 9-12 resource room setting. The needs ranged from simple reassurance to full support with breaking down concepts and assignments into manageable parts. I desire to become a tutor for many reasons, yet the greatest one would have to be because I have had a lot of education professionals support my academic well-being through extra tutoring various subjects and it feels like it is time for me to share that positive support with others. Relevant Coursework: Social Problems, Introduction to Sociology, Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiliogy, Biology, Algebra, Sociological Theory, Social Science Research Methods, Human Nutrition, Educational Psychology, Introduction to Special Education, Composition, American Government, State and Local Government, Public Administration, and Foundations of American Education. I currently work as a Direct Support Professional for people with disabilities as my primary source of employment. I do exceptionally well in establishing rapport with people early on in the working relationship process which develops a strong foundation for trust. I am thorough in my explanation of material to learners and make a full effort to tie it into examples that are relevant and meaningful.

Hobbies

My interests are quite varied. They primarily consist of being in the great outdoors where I can hike, rock-climb (sport and traditional), road bike, and snowshoe. When there is time to be spent indoors, I enjoy making jewelry for friends and family. Another interest I have is to keep my mind active. I engage in regular professional development for my field and take educational coursework to help stay current with the latest research.
